Staff, Friends, Family, & Customers
One way to tell is to ask your staff, family, friends, or customers to review your website. Ask them questions like:
- Does my website compare to our competitors?
- What do you like about the website?
- What do you dislike about the website?
- What features is the website missing?
- Does the website look professional?
- When you search for our products and services, does our website appear?
- Does our service pages list helpful information?
- and so on.
This strategy is great for positive feedback and improvement.
Search Engine Results
On your computer, open a web browser and activate incognito mode and turn off your personalized results. (If either of these are not completed, search engines will provide results that you’ve liked or recently visited and won’t help you.) Next, search for each of your services or products and record the position it’s in. For example, if your website service or product is listed 7th on page 3, record “Page 3, Result 7”. If your services, products, or pages are not listed near the top of the first page, you’re losing a lot of business.
Analytics
If you’re not using free tools like Google Analytics on your website, you’re going to have to work a lot harder to get personalized results from your website traffic. “GA” or Google Analytics is a great free tool that can be added to your your website that tracks valuable information. Information such as:
- Browsers
- Visit Duration
- Bounce Rate
- Search Queries
- And much more.
